MAF symptoms

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've developed a stuttering from around 2000rpm most noticeable in gears 4th and up. Anything more than around 30% throttle produces the stuttering right up through the revs. If I just use light throttle the car revs up no problem as smooth as it should be.

I've scanned the car with VCDS and it's shown no fault codes other than low battery voltage due to my weak ass Bosch s5 battery and doubt very much this has anything to do with it?

It's also worth mentioning that there are times when the car is 100% as it should be so it appears to be intermittent all be it more often than not the issue is present. Just normal day to day driving you don't even notice it's there so I do have to check it.

On VCDS all my injection quantities were spot on, one thing I did see was that the MAF values were strange, tho I'm not sure if this is normal. The specified value was at least 150mg less than the actual value, which didn't seem right, would it be worth replacing the MAF? Or would any would be MAF issues throw up a fault code?

Thanks

All responses appreciated :)

Best way to test the maf is unplug it and drive around for a while. If it feels the same then the maf needs replacing

Group 3 specified is fit the EGR. You can ignore this.

Your MAF actual should be around 1100 mid range dropping to 1000/high 900s at 4k. Assuming its a pd130.
