loose metal under car - what is it

Just spotted a piece of metal hanging from under my car. Looks like it is aluminium and has cooling fins running along the length. About 1m long, 15cm wide. Anyone know what it is? I'll try and post a pic.

its the heat exchanger for the fuel, get it fixed asap
