Clutch done... OMG what a task!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have completed the clutch change! What a b*tch of a job that was! I will add pictures later, surficive to say the clutch needed changing!

I may write a how to guide if anyone needs the guide? Could become a sticky maybe?

Clutch is light as a feather, will take some getting used to now...

Revs a little faster, no extra noises yet...

Only thing is my mate sheared one of the bolts that bolts the dog mount to the subframe, have about an inch sticking out. the mount has sheared too. other side is bolted in just crunches when starting on a hill etc..

Anyone have a spare one with bolts>?

Cheers

Paddy

Sorry just to say for those who havent read my previous posts...

I replaced the DMF with genuine G60 flywheel £88

Vr6 Sachs clucth kit £66.99

genuine new flywheel bolts £22.08

genuine new pressure plate bolts £ 3.48

2 liters of gearbox oil  £24.00

£204.00 all in!

oh could have done it under £200 but didn't realize the oil would have to be drained! :(

cheers paddy

good job then! Don;t worry the pedal won;t stay that light for long

whys that then?

  • Author

its also quite close to the bottom but i got used to a faxked clutch so the biting point was almost at the pedal's resting point! lol

the pedal won;t stay that flake light because of the grease you put on the bearing....it simply won;t stay too much there.

Have you checked the clutch fork? That tend to bend and snap....I had it!The pedal engaging close to the floor is not a good sign, because is a sign of a bent fork.

I had the clutch operating close to the floor ,then it was very hard to select 1st and R gear....this is how mine looked
