2011 Fabia VRS Recall?

Featured Replies

Came home from work today to a message on the answerphone saying to ring the garage about a recall, but left no details. Any ideas? We've only had the car for a week!

What kind of car a S2000, new or used?

Does it have Heated Seats, ? there was a recall on them.

2011 VRS S2000 used, and yes, it does have heated seats.

That might be the boys then.

Taking them long enough to get around to Owners, its about 8 months since i believe the first elements were being replaced.

Maybe as it has got Cold someone has had their back end burnt,

lets hope their car was not burnt out.

Safety never seams that important with Skoda.

Thank you. Mrs T does say that the seats appear to have 2 settings; very hot and Scorchio!

Spoke to the garage first thing this morning; it is indeed the heated seats. Booked in for next Friday.

Mine's booked in on Friday to have the driver's element, foam and cover replaced under warranty.  I was lucky that it didn't burn my bum (not sure how I avoided it as it burnt a hole all the way up through the cover). No mention of a recall though.  I shall pop in tomorrow morning and ask them if the recall is applicable and if so see whether they should be doing the passengers side whilst it's in.

Sorry for not replying as promised.  The drivers one was replaced under warranty as I described and due to a shortage of elements the passenger element will be replaced on Tuesday as a Service Action.  I've agreed with the garage not to use the passenger one in the meantime. Based on the position of the failure I've had I'd recommend that everyone who's got the sports seats with heating on 2011 models stops using them until they've confirmed whether they need replacing. It's potentially really going to hurt if you're sitting in it, if and when it goes especially if you're wearing lightweight clothes.

Cheers.

Could you ask them please why they have known for over 6 months and were

making no speed in a real effort to get peoples cars in?

Maybe a Recall off their own back advertised in the Media & motoring press.

Because it was active for about 3weeks or so, then Skoda took it down/stopped it flagging up on ELSA chassis checks due to a lack of availabilty of the newer heater elements as the dealerships were getting through them alot faster than expected.

The parts have only just come off of back order in the last week or so, hence why people are now being asked to come in. We did alot when 74C7 was first out, and have had 5 in over the past week that were looked at prior but couldn't get the parts for.

My local garage is perfectly honest and was quite embarassed. I know he had checked whether my car had any issues about 3 weeks ago as I was standing in front of him as he ran up ELSA against my VIN.

I only bought my car mid Jan and only contacted them 3 weeks ago when I spotted the burnt seat. They are welll aware of good customer service as my brother has just bought his 2nd Skoda from them and that they're getting their custom from me as a result of their excellent service.  I suspect a Skoda UK issue with supply of the elements. It explains why my warranty (rather than service action) element took so long to arrive.

The  benefit does seem to be that the new elements are less volcanic in their heating profile.  Switch setting 2 is actually bearable for more than about 10 seconds once it's got up to full temperature.
