Hello! What price would you expect from a Skoda dealer - and an independent VAG specialist - for 1. A big service and 2. A small service?

I've had a couple of prices but just thought I'd see if anyone had some thoughts...

Midland vw near me charges 170 for full service

Are they an indie or main dealer? And is that the bigger service?

I pay £99 for an intermediate service and £150 for a full service at Autohaus Dolby in Sheffield (which may be a bit far for you to trek) which includes use of the courtesy car if it's available. I think cambelt, water pump + major service comes in at just around £400, but I haven't had to have that done yet.

Interesting. That makes Skoda look dear! I just want to see whether I should shop around a little more or travel a little to get a better deal.

Sorry they're vag specialists and yeah that's a full service.

A smidge over £130 inc vat for SWMBO vRS, that's at Chesterfield VW Specialist.

I always bang on about them, but they are absolutely excellent.

Anyone know anywhere in the South east good (and good value) please?

I know quite  few people do travel up to get work done at Autohaus Dolby, choosing to spend a night in Sheffield for a weekend break as they're just off the M1. A service only takes a couple of hours though, so unless you really want to visit Sheffield/get shopping at Meadowhall...

 

I'm sure someone will be able to chip in with a decent indy down your way at some point though.

Question for the Moderators;

Would it be worthwhile having a new section on the forum for Independent Garages, those that are perhaps providing excellent service, and split it into areas?

That way forum members could suggest a local garage in their area that would benefit fellow members, a bit of an endorsement if you like???
