Used Buy - 1.9TDI Elegance Auto 2006 (ish)

Featured Replies

They are decent prices at the moment..... but having looked over this section of the forum all i see is '' water problems '', now i have a Mk1 Elegance Fabia and had this issue years ago but had it fixed via the dealer (not sure how)...... does this car have the same problem ? If its the same issue why are there still posts dated a week ago about the problem ?

Other than the '' flooding '' issues are there any other reason not to buy this car as a used item with say £50k on the clock ?

Oh i have a 60 plated Fabia 1.6cr elegance at the moment but want more room and this all spec'd up vehicle does appeal.... well more than a used Mk5 passat.

The autos are meant to be less reliable from reading forum post, also these superbs may leak at any stage of their lives, pollen filter, ecu, cable release, sunroofs, door seals, are all susceptible to leaking water, but fortunately preventative maintenance seems to be easy and effective, and plenty of info on forums!

Check out water leaks and auto boxes! I believe that 1.9tdi awx manual are meant to be most reliable, but different horses for different courses.....

One has to wonder why the pollen filter was still stuck down with crappy foam several years after they knew is was an issue.  My '99 B5 Passat had the same issue (fixed before it became a problem) six years before my Superb was even born!  That's VAG future-proofing for ya!!

VW documentation shows it getting a mention in July 2006:

Mine's an auto and hasn't missed a beat, so they're not all bad.

As I wanna/owna has said, there plenty to read about water ingress.  If it hasn't been fixed proactively, with evidence, then you're better off assuming that it hasn't been attended to.  In answer to your question, the problem keeps surfacing (excuse the pun), and will become an issue at some point without doubt if preventative remedial action isn't taken.

If it's room you're after, you'll certainly get it in a Superb.
