Powerflex rear beam bush fitment

Featured Replies

First of all, by god are these a tight fit!

I have fitted one side so far and I have fitted it flange out which mirrors that of the OEM bush fitment.

Secondly, should you utilise both plastic spaces when fitting the powerflex? Only the inboard spacer will actually fit properly as the outer spacer is funnel shaped and doesn't really mate with the powerflex bush.

There does seem a bit too much space between the chassy bracket and the rear beam bush though with the powerflex bush fitted without both plastic spaces?

Hopefully I have made sense and any pictured anybody could provide of the powerflex bushes it situe would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance chaps!

So I've seen people have fitted these bushes both flange in and flange out. Anyone know if it makes any difference? It also looks like neither of the plastic spacers are needed.

I think that you should fit both spacers if they're supplied, especially if there's a gap as stated. If there's a gap, you may get movement side to side which defeats the object of stiffening the rear bushes.

I'm yet to fit mine so unfortunately I don't have any pictures of a Vrs rear beam, but it should look something like below on a MK4 Golf, nice tight, flush fit.

I hope this helps.

The spacers weren't actually supplied they were from the old bushes. If that image shows the right hand side facing outwards then that looks very similar to my powerflex setup but there is no flange on the other side like on that image because the bush is one piece and just pushed through. I think I'm gonna have to have the beam off again at the weekend and have another look.

Thanks very much for the reply.

I found this pic on a VAG forum which is exactly the same bush. If this is correct it would appear neither of the plastic spacers are needed.
