2001 comfort estate central locking gone crazy

Featured Replies

Loaded the car with rubbish, went to the tip, it was raining, all normal.

got back home locked the car, about 2 hours later went out to the garage, the car was locking, unlocking itself all the time, the front electric windows going up and down.

I relocked the car a couple of times, as i walked away, the front windows opened, the doors kept locking and unlocking.

i quickly locked, disconnected the battery, at least the windows are shut if it rains.

PLEASE HELP !!!!

I had the same on my old Octavia Elegance, then when driving along the windows would start going up and down as well. Turned out it was the drivers door lock mechanism failing, (because the drivers door lock sends signals to the windows to lower them if you use the key in the door) replaced it and all was well.

Normally the symptoms are joined by having no door ajar light on the dash, and the lights left on warning buzzer not working as well.
