Octavia rough road pack

Featured Replies

Going for a new Octavia Combi - I can't wait for the Scout nor probably justify the extra cost; so thought I'd opt for the rough road pack as an extra since the cost is minimal.

Would anyone know how much extra ground clearance this would give, compared to the Scout? Also would there be any downside, eg reduced fuel consumption due to increased weight etc?

Have the  raised ride height and stone guard (RRP) on mine and according to the manual there's an extra 14mm over the standard spec (140mm) at 154mm or about the same as a Yeti Greenline. Believe the new Scout will offer similar clearance to the old model which was 180mm from memory.

There are some photos published by another member of the underside of their Octy III with the option in post #8 here;

Perfect, thanks. I don't need the 4x4 capability but the RRP sounds like it will give some protection from rutted tracks and even high kerbs etc.

Yes, this is precisely the reason I got the RRP. The change in clearance may seem small, but it is significant for city driving and moderately rough roads. Even if I hit some kerb, or stone, I still have the comfort of knowing that the most delicate parts underneath are protected.

As for fuel economy, it is hard to say without 1:1 comparison. Certainly there is an impact, but a similar scout will surely have much higher consumption.

Problem is in the UK you can only option the RRP and raised ride height on the Ambition/SE 4x4 Combi :S

Already proved it's worth when I caught the rear mud flaps coming off a rather large speed bump in Cambridgeshire recently; been more of a bang had I not had that extra bit of clearance.

More short sightedness on the part of our importer SUK, restricting the option to just the 4x4 in SE trim.

I'm in Ireland, the dealer is telling me it is an option here - but I'll point this out to him anyway just in case.
