Sudden clutch slippage

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought a 2nd hand Fabia 1.4 mpi petrol estate just over a week ago. 03 plate, 95k on the clock. It seemed fine till this morning when the clutch started slipping badly. It went from driving ok to slipping badly in all gears and I thought I might not get it home. I'm not much of a mechanic, but from what I've researched online so far it looks like I'll have to get the clutch replaced; Is there anything I might be missing before I take this step? There's no smell of burning, clutch/brake fluid reservoir looks full. Any help much appreciated!

....anyone? I'm just surprised it went so quickly, when I've had clutches go before it's been gradual, this just went from fine to knackered in seconds. Is there some sort of adjuster somewhere I could twiddle? Or is it going to be an expensive trip to the garage? Any advice appreciated

Stab in the dark, but is your clutch pedal returning correctly - can you hook your foot under it and manually lift it when you are driving.

Yes it seems to be returning correctly. I will double check that though. Thanks.
