Anybody had any experience of OBi? How does it compare to Road Angel and OBi2?

Can get new one for

Cracking devices by all accounts - not sure what the difference is between that and OBi2 though to know whether it's worth paying the extra.

Cheers Rob.

There a quite a few new features on OB2; lazer detector, school proximty warning, congestion charge area warning etc.

I would like a Road Angel but at

ob is good b2 is mega.... worth the extra money....

Paul,

what featurs of ob2 are better than ob1 (...now I am the Master.....sorry couldn't resist;) )?

Only really bothered about detecting the Plod; I know OB2 has a laser detector.

Cheers.

Adrian.

it does hotspots schools (time dependent) known plod hideaways, is much more sublte with its beeping smaller, has gps/nav output to connect to ipaq etc with autoroute for nav...

Road Angel has GPS output for a laptop running Autoroute as well. I have read though that there is some abiguity regarding the legality of detectors that display the speed limit etc.

I have to say that so far I have not found the Road Angel wanting. Schools I can see and expierience the slow down in traffic speed, congestion charging zones are a) known to me off by heart and B) irrelevant because they dont have speed cameras in central London, apart from Park Lane, the Embankment and Cromwell Rd (ok perhaps the very odd 1 or 2) but then I dont use the Angel in town anyway.

On balance, if anything the lack of extra features makes it easy to use, understand and read.

And it works....what more could I ask for?

Andy

Surely you could record the CC cameras into the RoadAngel as a custom location? I suppose it would mean driving through it, or at least walking through it holding the RA and a 12v power source...

The big red "C"s on the ground are a bit of a giveaway to the cameras though... :D

RoadAngel is nice and clear and doesn't have the "too many features" issue. Not sure whether the Origin would as I haven't had a chance to look at Paul's yet - something makes me think I would have preferred it to the RA, but I chose to invest the money in a device I'd seen working... :)

I don't have the laser detecting module plugged into the RA as it's a bit messy looking and I figure that the best it could do is tell me I was getting caught by a lasergun...

Rob.

There is another plus for the Angel as I see it, and that is the use of the pc to update its database, via the serial cable. You can visibly see how far it has got in the process, and how extra has been uploaded to it.

But anyway..

Andy

Yeah, that is useful.

Not sure how the Origin goes about updating...

Rob.

straigt into pc via broadband... then updates v quickly.

So much the same as RA then...

Rob.
