Looks like the foam has split to me. Take the seat out (4 m8 splines), undo the plastic trim round the seat, then tease the bottom of the cover off from the bottom and the foam and cover will come away from the metal. Then you could just peel the cover back and have a look. If it is split foam, then get some spray adhesive, plus some surplus foam if you need to fill the gap if it's worn away, and some old thin materiel. Spray the glue, fill with foam, glue over the top and cover with some material to keep the shape.

Or you could remove the passenger seat and swap the bases over so the drivers side has a fresher one.

Oh, and if it is a hog ring, then a cable tie will do the job.

if it helps, with the seats they don't always look like that, its usually after a longer period of time when I sit on them. If they are left for a while they look normal!

Mine do similar if that's any help? I think mine are just old and tired and have stretched out a bit, they go a bit loose if you sit on them for any extended period of time.

Thanks Mort. My original thinking was it was just the covers stretched out a bit....maybe ive put some weight on!? ha.

 

Think I shall follow Pulse's advice and take a look this weekend. Should be interesting as never done anything like that before!
