I have a 2009 vRS CR TDi. It's on the long service interval. I checked my oil today as have a long trip tomorrow and the level is only about a quarter of the way up the dipstick.

So I thought I would put a litre in as the service is due in 2000 miles and that should last to the dealer service ( can't service it myself as have extended warranty and must get the book stamped ).

Now I don't know what brand of oil the dealer uses but I guess it's shell because of the sticker under the bonnet, so could someone let me know what type and name of the shell oil to get. If I can't get the shell stuff would a litre of any brand compatible oil be ok or can it react with different brands.

Any brand is fine. Just make sure it meets vw approval of 507 00. This will be written on the bottle somewhere
