Pop > Loss of Power and Black smoke

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Driving today and had to pop foot down slightly to get up a hill, and POP! Like a backfire and loads of smoke baffled out. Cars currently in limp mode, juddering all over and smoking pretty heavily. Although after about 3krpm the smoke stops and it picks up slowly, but in limp mode still. I've searched the forums and people suggest to check the pipes, but forgive me i'm totally thick with cars where abouts will they be located? Come at the wrong time too! House move that's stretched me. :(

Hope some one can help!

They're all to the left of the engine and go down to the front of the bumper and down to the intercooler then under the engine and into the turbo at the back of the engine.

Be a boost pipe, just open the bonnet, they run down the left hand side of the car, if your looking into the engine bay, just check the connectors and pipes, make sure theres no splits.

Odds on that you've popped a joint in a turbo hose, particularly if they've been disturbed recently, say by having one of the drive belts replaced.

boost pipe, once they go one you might as well change them all! The lugs wear away. i think some people use self tappers....

Cheers guys, had a quick glance before going dark. Couldn't see anything face value, but didn't look in depth. I'm gonna pop it down to my local garage tomorrow.

That's probably the negative deviation code - you basically have a massive boost leak :D
