electric windows

Featured Replies

Hi the drivers side window on my 2006 superb is making a bit of noise when I operate it - sounds like a cable stiff or frayed-anyone fixed this before?

Sorry to highjack your post but hopefully both posts might get answered together. My drivers window makes a terrible squeaking noise. I've read somewhere? that it might be the weather strip along the top of the door/bottom of the window that can cause this. Does that sound feasible?

The operating cables fray and either become stuck or break.  Adhesive tape will hold up the window temporarily!

This:  http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/212345-window-repair-skoda-superb/  shows a repair.

A good search on ebay will offer many alternatives.  Either just the cable, the cable and pulleys, the assembled cables, pulleys and runners, or the whole carrier panel.

Be sure to seal the panel properly when you refit is..you don't want water leaks.

If it's the weather strips or guide channels then some silicone spray should help.

If that doesn't work, does the noise come from within the door?  Could it be a fraying cable or noisy pulley?   In which case some dismantling similar to the post above would allow a better investigation to see what is happening.

Thanks Tdi 1.9 - I will maybe get stuck into it on Sunday - there's a bit of work stripping those Doors though!
