Hello for Westcliff-on-sea, Essex

Featured Replies

I have been looking at buying a Yeti for a year or so and made the jump last week. It is to replace a 2004 VW Touran, that has served me well, apart from eating two flywheels,  at15K and then 67K. I do not like dual mass flywheels but looks like you cannot avoid them now.

After reading the threads I homed in on a new Candy White 2wd 110bhp diesel SE. My first problem is my low mileaage, but I tow a caravan and so it really had to be a diesel, although the petrol would "cope" with my lightweight van. I'll just have to give it a blast if needed to clear out the dpf.

A we all know the towbar situation is still an absolute joke. I had gone for the factory fit, believing the dealer would be able to sort out the extra electrics, but as expected this was a "bit confusing". Skoda UK appreciated "my comnents",and the dealer has dropped to £700 for 13 pin full functuality, detachable swan-neck, cover panel/plate in bumper and re-program of ecu etc. This is £150 more than a local towbar specialist, but does include the cover panel/plate that the local guy was not going to fit.

At the end of the day I bit the bullet on the extra, as I have managed just over 5% off total vehicle price including extras. Heated screen, lumber support, fold flat front passenger seat, carpet mats, front and rear flaps, rubber boot liner and silver instead of black roofrails and roofbars to match. This is in addition to the 2.9% finance deal and an includes a 3 year service and maintenance contract. I think it all works out at about £1800 worth, so cannot grumble.

I just have to wait the ?? weeks now for collection, hopefully in time to put 600 miles on it before off to France for 30 days this summer.

Thanks to fellow eriba owner g6zru - Fred from Brighton for his advice.
