Looks great

Very nice looks good in white

I want mine!!! It's the same as yours James, was considering alternatives but nothing comes close, plus the 0% and free servicing has made my mind up I'm sticking with the VRS looking at the pictures it will be worth the wait looks fantastic James enjoy! Not seen a new shape VRS where I live yet or on my commute to work.

Lovely looking car...I am picking up mine on Tuesday and can't wait. I did spec the pano roof as I am hoping that the dark glass will break up the white a little more. Another couple of bits and bobs added but other than that it will be that same as yours. Great buy.

Ok, so a week in with the car.

I dont do huge mileage, usually, its mainly around town sort of stuff, with occasional 20 mile dual carriageway/A road runs, on my previous CR vRS DSG, on the long term MPG I was getting around 38mpg, which for my general use was quite good, certainly a huge improvement on the 25mpg I used to see on my TSI!

This week in the car has seen me having to collect my parents from there holiday at Birmingham Airport, plus there friends, so up until yesterday, the car had done around 200 miles, and my fuel consumption according to the computer was showing around 35mpg which was similar use to my old CR, anyway, I set off on the 360 miles round trip to collect them early this morning, and on the way up, with just me and an empty car with the CC set at 75mph the car returned 52mpg, which I was really pleased with, on the return with 5 large cases plus carry on sized bag, plus 4 adults plus myself in the car, the return journey with similar speed and CC conditions the car computer returned around 45mpg, which I can't complain about, I expect a difference just based on weight alone, but obviously environmental conditions can alter things as well, I filled up when I was finished and according to my app that I use its showing a long term MPG of 42, this tallys very close to the long term showed in the car.

Being honest, I am really pleased with that, its much better than my older CR, plus its a new car and new engine, so hopefully it should loosen up a little bit as well and slightly improve, so really pleased, not sure how that compares to others on here, but for me its pretty good and I am happy.

As for my thoughts a week in, having used it for my uses, i.e. around town, plus an extended run to the airport all I can say is its great, it is exceeding my expectations.

The seats are excellent, really comfortable, its as happy around town as it is munching miles on the motorway, it tools all the luggage it need to today with ease and no problems.  My parents commented on how it was more spacious than my older car, and gave a nice comfortable ride etc, so if parents approve, then it can't be a bad thing!

Cant really complain about anything on it at the moment, my only minor gripe would be with the sat nav, I use the driver display for directions, and the directions it sends to the display, can at times be slightly misguiding, for example, when approaching a slight bend in the road, i.e. where a road bears to the right, on the sat nav it shows this as a proper right turn i.e. 90 degree arrow pointing right, so I have been looking for a conventional right turn, when there isn't one, I suppose its something that I will get used to in time, but its only a minor gripe.

I just admit though, the DSG mated to this diesel engine, is a peach, its so smooth when cruising or going around town, yet, when you want some poke its more than willing without the usual diesel turbo lag, a lot smoother acceleration.

So far so good, definitely made the right choice.

I have had my VRS TSI Manual for 4 days and I am also loving it too. One thing has however annoyed me today. My 12 year old daughter climbed in the boot and buckled the cheap and nasty 5mm thick chipboard floor. As this is only protected by an equally low grade excuse for a carpet breakage was no real surprise. She was devastated that she damaged Daddy's new car but I assured her it wasn't her fault, rather some cheapskate accountant employed by a company called VAG far far away. How can they use such low quality parts on a £24000 car?

Now I'll need to rebuild the floor myself, the way it should have been done in the first place.
