Octavia Service update

Featured Replies

Did my first service on the new (to me) Octavia. I stupidly thought the 35mm socket from my Fabia TDI would do...seems like I need a 32 for this. Unfortunately I only discovered this after setting the Pela pump on the dipstick. So, once I've obtained the correct part, I'll change the oil again and do the filter as well. A bit of a waste of 4l of 507.00 (I got 20l for 72 inc VAT from TPS).

Given that the engine is on variable servicing, do I need to use my MaxiDot to reset anything, or will the sensors inside automatically detect fewer impurities in the oil and assume it's new?

Air and pollen filters were a breeze to change, but the first Torx screw I tried undoing on the fuel filter snapped the bit. I left some GT85 on the screws for now...is there a trick I'm missing?

Plus, these bits from from Halfords...anyone recommend a better, less snappy brand?

Many thanks!

Could anyone also point me in the direction of a pdf service schedule i can follow and keep for my records?

The variable service interval reminder needs to be reset by a dealer or with VCDS.

So this won't do?

In short, no. I bought one and the reset never seemed to stick.

Thanks for being so concise :)

Is it normal for the 'service due' maxidot message to disappear by itself after the oil change? When it did that I assumed the 'sensors which detect oil impurities' detected that the oil is fresh....

If I plan on servicing it every 10k anyway (I intend on keeping this VRS for the next few years), does it matter whether or not I get it reset?

I  believe if you are going for 10k / 1 year fix servicing the service indicator can be reset using the maxidot. The variable has to be reset / setup by the dealer
