Monte Carlo cost + DPF delete

Featured Replies

Hi guys, been looking at Monte Carlos for a while (Brand new, loaded with all options), and I'm looking at around £18k for one.

What kinda deals did you get on yours when you bought brand new? I want to be armed with other peoples offers when bartering in show room.

I'd be looking to keep car for 4-5 years.

Also, how strict are they on warranty? I'd potentially look at taking DPF and remapping straight away, but don't want to invalidate warranty (Or would they just say the exhaust and ECU are now not covered as they're moddeD?)

I wouldnt touch the dpf just yet. New mot regulations are coming in which check for these, and also you risk not passing the emissions test. I know its 3 years down the line, but still.

If you develop a problem which is related to the engine, as soon as the dealers see its remapped, i could imagine theyd deny all responsibility.

Its up to you but of course, but its a risky game with a new car i think

18k for a Monte? That seems crazy! We've just bought a vRS Estate with a few options for 17k so I can't imagine paying that kind of money for a Monte lol!

I think most people on here got theirs for around 11-13k.

If you don't want to invalidate the warranty then a remap and DPF delete are out of the questions sadly.

Two things...1. if you remap and remove the dpf it will invalidate the warranty. 2. your car will not be legal under the EU emission rules.  Although your car will not be eligible for an MOT just yet, it will not be regarded as being roadworthy under the new rules which came into force last month. A new vehicle must be able to comply with the same  MOT rules as a 3 year old vehicle.

Assuming you are doing decent mileage as you are considering diesel why would you consider DPF removal or delete? It's just one of the things now that comes with a diesel car and they are rarely problematic if you are doing the right kind of mileage and journeys.

It sounds like more hassle than its worth now with the new regs discussed in above posts.

Dpf isn't a problem if the car is driven the way its suppose to be , as for the mapping pretty sure one or 2 have and had good results without removing the dpf

I hope you're going to get a big discount as paying £18k for a Monte is suicidal IMO.

If you've got £18k to spend on a diesel then there's better cars out there for the money than a run out model Fabia.

There's no way I'd be considering remaps or DPF removal either on a brand new car as your 3 year warranty is going to be worthless.

Hmmmm. 18k on a Fabia MC at a time when a hell of a lot of people on here are laughing with their circa 11k-13k Tech versions, bought up to only a month ago ;)

Maybe you could wait a little for the Mk3 when it finally comes out? Skoda have already said they will continue the Monte Carlo trim. Also, if you're going for the 1.6CR 105, you won't want a remap. It's fast for a diesel, and now mine is loosening and becoming even more torquey/fast off the roundabout at temperature. Only done 1,200 miles in 2 weeks  :giggle:

Woah woah! In jus saying what the price was online! I wouldn't pay that! I'd be pushing for quite a good discount......

Remap wasn't for power, just for efficieny and making dpf delete work.

I'd happily buy a 2nd hand one, but can't find one with electric window, satnav, dab, msfw and xruise!

the DPF is only an issue for economy if you do short runs, if you regularly do 20+ mile runs at 50+mph it will rarely regen

so why the need to map and DPF delete

why not leave it and do the map / delete if you have an issue

Is that list price for a Tech?

Why DPF removal?  It's there for a reason.

If you only do short runs, then a petrol will most likely work out equal if not better economy anyway in the real world than a diesel.  If you do long runs, then a DPF delete won't achieve anything positive anyway.

Personal opinion, of course.
