Does anybody have any tips for changing the fuel filter on my octavia diesel 2005.

should i also consider removing the actual housing from the car in order to clean what the filter goes into ?

Make sure you know which kind of filter you have.

When I did mine recently inside the housing was fine. The filter didn't look too bad either.

The filter element depends on the filter housing, if you can supply the numbers on the filter housing when ordering the element it increases your chances of getting the correct filter.

 

Be extremely careful to ensure that the seals go in correctly otherwise it'll leak profusely with the possibility of trashing the alternator, auxiliary belt, cam belt and engine.

once you fit the new filter into the housing / canister,

make sure you fill the canister up with diesel,  it avoids any air lock problems
