How do you disconnect the CD changer?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

How do you disconnect the standard CD changer? I have got the changer off the bracket but the cable seems to be wired inside the unit and will not unplug. Is there a plug behind the trim?

How's does the trim come off?

Thanx

Wayne

I suspect its wired into the back of the head unit. Might have to remove the head unit to disconnect it, and pull through. Trim just comes off with a good tug and a SNAP. ;) However I don't know which way the wires run for it.

Im assuming you mean the Octavia changer in the boot?

The plug is on the loom about six inches or so from the changer.

And there are some small screws on the sides of the metal casing to be able to remove it

Yes, I mean the Octavia autochanger in the boot. I have already changed my headunit for my Pioneer one from my last car and am now setting about getting my Pioneer autchanger fitted in place of the standard one. I am hoping to leave the original cabling in place so that I can change it back to standard easier.

Unfortunately, I have just found that my Pioneer autochanger is slightly wider than the OE one and will not fit on the standard bracket. Anyone got any advice for fitting an aftermarket (esp Pioneer) bracket? Does the standard one unbolt from the bodywork behind the trim?

Also any advice on removing the boot trim etc would be good as I don't want to tug something in the wrong direction and break it

Cheers

Yes , the brackets that hold the standard changer just unbolt from the body behind the carpet.

You can then just use a flat piece of metal with a couple of holes drilled in it to re-space the bolts at one end. That's how I got my sony changer in place
