Electric Windows Finally Sorted

Featured Replies

Hi All,

If like me you really enjoy the Fabia but are scared of putting the window down, I finally sorted it today. Having searched and read all the posts about, this I set about it in earnest today. Trim panel off, loom disconnected at A pillar and with a multimeter checked all wires from motor socket and all 100%. Someone mentioned squirting silicone spray down window runners, done and with motor removed managed to pull window up and down and it appears to move freely. Stripped door window switch carefully ( quite easy but keep it warm so plastic doesn't crack ) and cleaned all appeared ok, so my attention moved to the motor unit. Having been removed from the door it eventually moved continuously clockwise and anticlockwise via the switch. The loom, plugs into the motor unit but this motorunit socket can be unclipped from the window motor and remain attached to the loom. Surprise surprise there was lite corrosion visible on the motor internal pins and the corresponding clip. Thoroughly cleaned these and smeared these with Vaseline and hey presto, window now glides up and down and the one touch facility works to. Hope this helps someone looks like condensation finds it's way inside motor somehow.

Just had the same problem on an 09 plate Fabia, and I quickly narrowed it down to a broken wire in the rubber flexi on the driver's door pillar  .
