How to remove window winder motor?

Featured Replies

Anyone know please, how I get the window winder motor out on a Fabia? I've removed the door card etc.; removed 3 large philips screws round the motor and removed all the 10mm bolts around the edge of the inner steel liner. I've also removed two large rubber grommets which I presume give access to the glass fixings.

What am I missing as I still can't get at the inside of the door?

Thanks for any advice.

The motor just unbolts from the carrier.

If you want to get the carrier out you need to unbolt it from the glass through the grommets you discovered. Knock out the three plastic rivets that hold on the door catch.

thanks for that, I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Also, you may want to ever so slightly open the window. If it's shut completely, you may have a bit of "strain" in the motor and gearing which will prevent the motor unit sliding away from the cog of the window mechanism ;)

You want the window unbolted from the regulator and slide it upto the top of the door frame, a bit of masking tape will hold it up there.
