Broken hand brake trim!

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Noticed our Octavia's handbrake trim is broken! The sliding part that covers the area around the handbrake suddenly has a chunk missing out of it so there's a great big gaping hole there!

Spotted this on eBay:

Would we say this looks like the right part? It's a VRS Ltd Edn. And would it be an easy task for me to do myself?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks

I bought one of those from eBay, the seller is Rainworth Skoda so genuine part. Bit of a pain to fit as you have to take the whole centre console out.

Crikey. Sounds like a fiddle! It's a mystery how it's happened in the first place, I guess it's just worn itself out or something!

It is less daunting than it sounds once you get into the job so it should be ok to do yourself. Takes less than an hour and that post above is a really good guide which I used when I hasd the same problem.

However, that is dear for the part - I paid only £14 from the Cardiff dealer for one less than 6 months ago. Perhaps that is the price you pay for being able to order conveniently and save pick up time but it is also slightly cheaper on www.skodaparts.com (search 1Z0713187).

There are quite a few bolts and screws to remove as well as electrical connection to undo.

Local Dealer wanted more than that one on eBay.
