Featured Replies

Hi all,

I went out this evening to check fluid levels, opened coolant cap and found

brown sludge in bottle I then cheked the oil it was perfect no sludge the car driving petfect

No loss of power.would it be head gasket or oil cooler sorry meant to say engine is 1.8t petrol.

Also is it ok to drive for the next week?

Thanks

When you say brown sludge, does it look/feel like oil, or could it be a cruddy/rusty mixture as often found in coolant?

I agree with Roto , had the same problem on a MK 2 Passat with the 1.6 Tdi engine, changed the oil cooler which i got from the main dealers  for £30 exchange. biggest problem was getting the old oil out of the rad system.
