Strange Fog Lights...

Featured Replies

Hi all.Well having problens with the rear fog lights at the moment & wondering if anyone could point me in the

right direction. The problem is,when i turn the fogs on the fronts are fine but the rear, well one brake light is on full brightness

& the other refuses to light. All bulbs are correct in the holders & type.So any ideas please?

Did it used to work?

I ask because only one works on the original factory setting despite all the wiring being there

Is normal, the other one is not wired

Im not sure really, the fronts work fine, its just the rear uses the brake light high beam if that makes sence

So its just the drivers side brake light that lights up on the fogs? & the other is fake?

well, not fake as such... but yeah :D

So it uses the drivers brake light on full for the fog & only one?  :wall:

only one...

If you want you can wire to the other fog light,is not hard

you only need one rear fog light....

and, iirc, its a dual filament bulb if you look at it,

1 for brake, and 1 Fog.

Its probably already wired and complete with a bulb. You will need VCDS to turn it on

and how do you turn it on from VCDS? what's the procedure?

I;m telling you is not wired.....

You can only turn it on on the Mk2 Octy with VCDS.

As Iulian said, Mk1 is not wired. I ran a wire across to the other side on mine when I had it to give 2 fog lights.

So it uses the drivers brake light on full for the fog & only one?  :wall:

It should not be the brake light that comes on as a fog light. Can't remember exactly now, but I think the rear tail lamp is double filament so lights the 2nd filament up as fog lamp.

All sorted thanks all.Turns out it does use only one & the brake lights end up at the top rather than shareing the bottom drivers.Silly me  :whew:
