no lights, help. important.

Featured Replies

Hi earlier today when in the boot I knocked the plastics quite hard where the bootlight is. A small poof of smoke came out.like a resistor had blown.

Everything was fine. Light was still working

Came back to my car. I now have no interior dome light or positioned lamps No boot light either. Which was working after the small poof of smoke.

I have a lightbulb warning light on the dash but cant find any info about it. I have changed every bulb so far.

What ive found.

If I flick the switches on the positioned lamps they come on for a moment.

First of all, have you checked the fuseseseses? (fuses)

The lights wouldn't work at all if the fuse was blown.

If I flick the switches they come on intermittently

But no not checked the fuses. Its pretty dark outside right now.

That's the first thing I would check anyway before thinking deeper. Where did this poof of smoke come from?

Just went out no warning. If I insert interior fastoon both 501 bulbs go out.

If I turn the car off the 501's are still lit up slightly

Is the car still on the standard bulbs you got it with,

or are you changing some or all bulbs as an upgrade,

which have you already done, and what have you put in so far?

Someone else with have to help though,

electricery is all magic to me.

The poof of smoke came out of the light unit in the boot when I removed it.

All standard right now. They werw uprated cree bulbs prior to this issue.

Where is the fusebox? Looked in manual page 195 but cant seem to locate it.

should be under the steering wheel.

Under the Steering wheel you pull off the cover for the fuses.

& that is where you switch is to disable the DRL's,   they will still work as your Sidelights or Parking light,

once you get your lights working.

Hi guys. Found the fusebox. 1 15a fuse has blown. Interior illumination light.

I had managed to remove the 2 blue 15a fuses and put them on the line below! So my car would not start. Errors everywhere.

I rang the rac knowing I had made a cockup.

If it were not for george and his extremely helpful posts the rac would be here now.

I seen what I had done and resolved the issue.

Now I have to wait for halfords to open tomorrow as nowhere shell, bp, tesco stock mini fuses.

Hopefully just replacing the blown fuse fixes my issues I have.. if not probably a new bootlight is going to be needed due to that small black resistor inside it.

Also turns out if that fuse goes the whole rear end of the car doesnt light up! Fksake.

George, I owe you a drink/steak if we ever meet. Thank you again for being such a huge help.
