Question re Brembo calliper upgrade for FL Mk2 Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

I have heard a few people mention that a good upgrade is to fit Brembo callipers to the front.

I've seen on the electronic bay that numerous folks mention VAG when listing Porsche boxster calipers etc.

Can someone please advise me what to look for and what involved in fitting the callipers?

Ideally I'd like to keep the standard diameter of disc on the front. Are these Boxster front or rear calipers size?

Cheers

I have the Porsche setup on my Mk5 golf which retains the 312mm disc.

Make sure you get the correct calipers from a 986 front axle

I was almost considering putting some 335mm 996 turbo calipers on it with some R32 discs but that looks like far too much work.

Out of interest, was there a noticeable difference when you fitted the 986 4 pots?

I fitted steel hoses to, so yes a noticeable bite from normal braking, and can also handle the heat and gives you extra confidence when coming hot into a corner

Excellent, cheers.

Having done a fair bit of research today I have found out that the Boxster front calipers that are mentioned in the above report are part numbers: 986.351.421 and 986.351.422. These obviously require reversing with the link pipe and bleed valves.

However, apparently the rear calipers from the 996 are exactly the same but apparently due to the fact that they are mounted infront of the rear axle on the 996 they don't require reversal. The part numbers for the 996 rears are: 996.351.421 and 996.351.422

I think I've just managed to locate a pair of those for £175. They require powder coating and stuff but for that price it's a good save.
