Hi, maybe not the ordinary question regarding Amundsen+ and the map update but those of you who has gone through the update procedure using a proper SD card from Volkswagen/Skoda, do I need the iginition on during the approximate 2 hours it takes to do it?

Hi, found out by trying ... :think:

 

Once the card is assigned to the head unit and the upgrade itself initiated the card should not be removed, the upgrade will continue as long as the unit has power and after the ignition has been off and turned on again the upgrade continues from where it was.

 

Bought my Western Europe v.5 SD card from this seller on eBay. Seem to work well and approximately £100 cheaper than from a local dealer. Now I am just waiting for the upgrade to finish ...

... and the update has now finished, everything is just fine and the map data presents itself as Western Europe V.5 ... so if it wasn't for the bad cold I picked up somewhere everything would be great ...

Do you know what is the date of your V.5 maps, and how often are new versions issued? My (2012 Yeti) Amundsen+ has "Western Europe 0038" which is probably fairly out-of-date (it certainly thinks there is a petrol station nearby which hasn't been there for years); but I wouldn't like to buy a new one if there was a later one coming soon.

My recent update is called the 2014 version but I believe it was released in November 2013, just took a few months to become available. Since I have been ill for a couple of days I haven't really been able to try it out. I do hope that a few things in my neighborhood has been corrected since my V4 map showed what it looked like back in 2010 ...

It should do but no guarantee. If it isn't the most up to date maps then I would be having a word with the dealer if I were you. It is not unreasonable for a brand new car with brand new sat nav to come with the most up to date maps.
