AMF BNV engine swap.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 1.4 tdi PD 80 fabia estate, on a 57 plate, which has a seized engine due to the oil pump failing at 70000 miles. ( not as uncommon as I first thought after doing some research ).

Basically, I have been quoted £700 for a second hand one fitted, but it has the AMF engine code and my present engine has a BNV engine code.

What if any is the difference between the 2 different codes ( is it just an age thing ) and would this be an advisable replacement.

Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for the reply.

That's what I thought but I was told the BHP was to do with the turbo and engine mapping, which would be transferred from my old engine.

By looking at the wiki page, it looks like it is most likely a mapping difference on the exact same engine build (bar a few minor alterations im sure). Should be fine.

Thanks,

May have to try it anyway as it's hard to find a bnv locally.

Much appreciated.

Forget the weedy diesel lump. Use this opportunity to drop in a bloody great V8 and create the ultimate sleeper!

Feel more like dropping a gallon of petrol in it and setting it alight.
