Fuel filler cap release

Featured Replies

Hi all have a problem with the fuel cap release on my superb. I bought a new solenoid fitted it and guess what it still does not work.

Does anyone know what I should be seeing at the connector to the solenoid. I have listed what I have found with my multi meter.

  1. Meter on volts. Nothing operate switch very small voltage.
  2. Switched meter to continuity and it shorts out across terminals operate switch and the short goes.

Should I be seeing no volts then 12 volts once switch is operated? Car electrics are a different world to the normal stuff.

Hope this helps Many thanks Andrew

Presuming it has a spring return then it will be no volts but when it is operated it will be twelve volts on the live side of the switch.
