wiper arms.

Featured Replies

question. Do the aero wiper arms on a Passat b5.5 fit onto a superb?

thanx

I have these and they do, but if you activate the wipers with the bonnet up then the driver's side one will damage the bonnet paintwork, as the arm hits the edge of the bonnet.

FYI the part numbers I bought were:

3B2955409C

3B2955410C

I got them a couple of years ago from www.veedubmachine.co.uk, cost me £35+VAT for brand new parts.

I'm not sure I'd bother changing them given the chance again - they don't actually work as well as standard wipers, particularly in the cold.  I was having a moment of madness when I got them.

For aero wiper arms, Valeo Silencio VM405 wiper blades for Focus C-Max work very well at all speeds incl. stationary. They also clear larger area on driver side (they are 26"/19" as opposed to stock 21" / offset 21" from Bosch). Makes noticeable difference if you are tall.

When I retrofitted aero wiper arms 3 years ago, I liked the looks of much lower wiper profile and the fact that they wipe very well at autobahn speeds, much better than conventional wipers. However, since fitting them, most manufacturers incl Bosch started cost-cutting by making only "universal clip" designs, which are much higher profile, so the aesthetics advantage is mostly gone now, unless you buy the dedicated twin set or the Valeos mentioned earlier. Still, hard to beat aero wipers at high speeds (though I do not use them often on account of RainX :) ).  But in my opinion, converting wiper arms does not make sense anymore, far easier to get an aero wiper set with universal clips, and the looks and the performance with wiper blades currently on the market will be very similar.
