4th year servie on Tsi vRS

Featured Replies

Car is due it's 4th service at the end of the month. What is all due to get done on this service as i'm sure i've read it's a big service?

I have the service plan from when i bought my car and just want to make sure they do everything that it's due.

It's currently on variable servicing but i only do around 6000 miles a year so best for the fixed but will keep it on variable for the 2 year service as i bought backup longlife oil and it's not been used yet :)

You only do 6k miles a year and you are on variable service still ?

How many times has your car been serviced since 2010 ?

As above with your miles I think you'll find you should really be on the fixed service interval 10k/12 months which ever comes first. Variable is meant for high annual milage cars that do lots of motorway miles. Has your dealer sold you a service plan that's better for them than your car or am I missing something?

The oil you bought is the same for fixed and variable servicing.

The car has been serviced every year so this will be it's 4th service. Not sure why the last owner had it on variable as he was only doing 3000 miles a year.

The likes of brake fluid change, is that included in the service or do you need to pay that seperate and what else is there that needs done?

Ah, now all is clear. You're referring to what the car ecu is set at so it uses the sensors to determine when the service light comes on, rather than just before the 12 montns/15000 kms are up, not the servicing regime the previous owner had done on the car.

All mk2 Octys are set on the variable service interval at the factory. When the owner buys the car the dealer is supposed to change it to fixed if this is best for the new owners milage and driving pattern as part of the pdi. You should be able to do this yourself in the maxidot if you want to but can't change it back without vcds or the dealer doing it.

they charge extra for brake fluid change- theres details of the national pricing plan on SUKs website

Brake fluid is at year 3 and then every 2 years after that. Not needed at year 4.

You sure? Checked my service schedule and it states it's every 2 years?

That's correct but for some reason the first change isn't until year 3.

You got any proof of this? Not that i don't believe you but just making sure.

I got a card from my local dealer just after mine was 3 years old saying it was due a brake fluid change.

The Service Schedule for my FL Octavia II which was built in October 2010 states:

Brake fluid change - first change after 3 then every 2 years.

And that is when I had the fluid changed recently.
