clutch slipping intermittently

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

The clutch on my vrs has been slipping on and off since sept last year, now the car doesn't get driven alot so that's why i haven't had the clutch changed yet, but it seems that sometimes when you drive all day long it slips but then on other occasions it may not slip at all?? seems a bit strange as i taught once a clutch is slipping then its slipping?? mainly effected on boost. any ideas on if the clutch is defo gone?

cheers

Mark

If it's slipping it won't get any better, and you run the risk of scoring your flywheel, start saving lol

I get ya, i have considered fitting smf while clutch is out anyway. but still wonder why it only does it on and off.

Probably because its just got to the point of slipping if you get me? I once had a pug 306 that started to slip, turned out that a seal was weeping oil, which got on the friction plate and it slipped under hard acceleration only, after it had slipped a little and warmed up, it would grip and run fine for a few days...strange lol

That is exactly what is happening it can be fine for a few days then it will slip. strange one i must say

If it is slipping intermittently I would place my money on the clutch slave cylinder sticking.!

Once a clutch starts to slip, it will just slip all the time....
