Help with Ignition Coil\Loom

Featured Replies

So

A while back my 2002 octavia estate started to act up.  When accelerating it would stutter or lose power(felt like someone pumping the brakes)  and then it would take off when the revs got up. Also the engine electrics light came on.

I got a mechanic friend to take a look, he noticed that coil 1 had a broken clip and was held to the loom using a cable tie.  We made it tighter and played about with the coil, after that it seemed to work fine.

Then it started doing it again a few weeks later.  I did the same thing and i fixed it for a few more weeks while i was researching potential problems.   The Loom its self was looking knakered, so i have just replaced the whole thing(not a fun job!)

I have just takes the car out for a spin and its doing the exact same thing still, but no engine electrics light is on.

Should i replace the coils themselves and spark plugs?

Can someone please help!

The coils are most likely covered under the recall that I believe is still active, so yes get it into skoda and get them changed for free (as long as they are the older number ones) do a search and you will find lots of info.

Spark plugs I use are the NGK BKR7E's which are super cheap so no reason not to do them every service.

at the very least you need to check the gap......
