EGR valve

Featured Replies

Hi

Just bought a 12 mth old Superb v6 tdi. Within a day had a warning on the dash 'emissions workshop!'. Dealer reset the fault on the computer for it return within 10 mins of driving away. They say that computer shows a EGR valve fault and that they will need car overnight to recitfy and order any parts.

They say should be OK to drive in the meantime.

Any thoughts on the latter especially. Don't want to be damaging my pride and joy.

Cheers

Should be fine to drive for now, EGR does very little in day to day running. Could well be someting blocked up by a bit of carbon reducing EGR flow.

While on this theme, am I likely to get any kind of fault from blocking off the EGR? not bothered as long as it remains "a code" and doesn't escalate into something more physical.

Thanks Lummox

You will get a fault code when blocking off the EGR.
