Car Mats?

Featured Replies

Hi all, Just bought a mark 1 VRS and I love it a already! I have owned mark 1 Fabia VRS before so I know how infectious these cars can be.

I am trying to source some genuine mark 1 vrs mats for me new purchase but I can not find anywhere. EBay only seems to have mark 2 mats. The car has what appears to be Fabia VRS mats in at the mo and are incredibly annoying and slide around. Anyone have any ideas of where I can get some (other than paying extortionate amounts at Skoda)?

I tried very hard but had no luck. In the end i bought some from ebay.

Will try and find a link for you if i can

I have some originals up in the loft from when I bought my vRS new.  They were in the car for about 5k miles and then I mothballed them.  If I can find them and if they are okay, would you like me to put some photos up?

After fitting the mk4 golf carpet I tried to order genuine vw mats and was told they no longer make them so its possible Skoda have also stopped making them. They would be somewhere in the region of £70 if you could get them!

Just had a look & I've found them.  The copies aren't too bad but the logo is wrong.

As for getting hold of them I tried once so that I'd have one good set and one to keep for show.  The last good set on ebay went for nearly £100 - crazy price!  Mind you, they were new and in the plastic wrapping but even so that's a lot for a set of mats.

That's bonkers! Who'd pay that for mats. I ended up finding a seller on eBay selling genuine vw mk4 mats. £30 which seems reasonable.

Blimey, £68 for two front mats!  Mind you, they're asking top dollar for their stuff but seeing as it's getting more scarce they can.  Compared to how much some things cost for the S1 Rallye I had, some of their prices aren't too bad.

Have you tried Skoda yet?

I bought a new front drivers side one in September last year and it wasn't too expensive. There seem to be some myths about having to buy a complete set or that they can't be bought any more.

I just walked into my local dealer and asked for one. Turned up after a couple of days.

How much was it?  I tried a couple of dealers, one in Pickering (now closed) and one in York and they likened them to a mythical treasure that many had heard of but few had seen.  Perhaps there are still some left but they weren't in Yorkshire at the time.

Thanks for all the replies. Haven't tried my local Skoda yet as I just assumed they'd be expensive, had no idea genuine mark 1 mats were so sought after! I'll call them tomorrow.

I am watching a set on eBay at the minute. Used but a hell of a lot better than what I have now. Will probably end up plumbing for the look alike ones mentioned earlier in thread.

How much are the set on ebay going for?

Skinnyman - the used set? Currently at £10 but with a week to run. They aren't clean and a bit worn but would do for now.

Yeah, I wondered what condition they were in.  The Mrs reminded me that the ones I have were only in the car for a for about five weeks and then I took them out as I didn't want to damage them.  Daft really as the rears have never been touched by a single shoe, the passenger mat was only used three times - according to the wife - and the driver's mat has a tiny bit of wear and I mean tiny.  It niggled her that I put in cheapo mats pretty much straight away and put the nice ones into storage.

I'll hang onto them for a bit longer then as I may get another vRS in the future.
