Who manufactures Skoda's oil filters ?

Other than buying from Skoda themselves - can they be bought from someone like Europarts ?

There seems to be a wide choice of manufacturers on Europarts website, but any decent motor factor should be able to supply them.

if you can use TPS get an OE filter from there. Usually cheaper than ECP too

Otherwise if it's ECP, I get the Hengst filters.

I just don't want Skoda discovering a wrong brand of filter in use - SHOULD anything go bang during the warranty period.

 

So - Hengst is what Skoda use ?

Also try carparts4less - it's like having ECP sale prices, but all of the time.

Its not getting hold of one that's an issue - its getting one made by the same people Skoda buy theirs from

As with tyres Skoda chop and change their filter suppliers on a fairly regular occurance, therefore any dealer would be very hard pressed to challenge you for not using genuine VAG parts.

 

Just see this eBay listing, even a Skoda main dealer cannot gurantee which filter material will be sent to you as there are a few different types...

Just buy genuine, whether through eBay, a main dealer, skodaparts.com, the skodashop.co.uk or TPS etc. etc. I've yet to see a genuine oil filter cost over a tenner.

You could just buy one from your servicing dealer and fit that ..

I liked Skoda's view on using only their own car batteries.

VAG have at least 2 suppliers for all service items.

 

Mann and Hummel are one of their OE suppliers. On my fabia it even has Mann and Hummel cast into the filter housing. 

 

GSF car parts supply Mann Filters as their "premium" filter at very good prices compared to VAG dealers. The filters look identical to the VAG product with exception of the logo and part no printed on them.

Mann and Hummel make the majority of oil filters supplied by VW. Purflex is also another well known manufacturer although I don't know if they produce for VW

UFI certainly do fuel filter for VAG and I think other filters too.

Mann are oe fit for vw in mist filters. They are just reboxed and stamped with a vw part number.

I think they cup and change their suppliers depending on who gives the most competitive prices

I believe Mahle also manufacture oil filters for the VAG group.
