1.8 4x4

Featured Replies

Evening ... I am currently looking at a 10 plate yeti 1.8 4x4 with 40k .. Full skoda service ... can i enquire if it's a good car ... anything to.look out for .. and will accessories still be available .. ie roof bars .. bike racks .. towbar etc .. only do about 10k a year so a diesel not cost efficient .. Thanks

Take no notice of Skoda's claims on the petrol consumption figures as reality is hideous. Skoda is no longer offering this engine as an option on the Yeti anymore. Hope you have deep pockets.

It's still available on the top spec L&K, but no longer the SE and Elegance.

Mine was averaging 28mpg in normal non-traffic use.

It's gone down since a bigger turbo was added and it went to the track... :D

Skoda do still offer this engine in the Yeti. It's a superb engine very quiet and smooth. On average I get about 30mpg. Accessories still available as most are the same as the current model. Currently on my second 1.8 Tsi Yeti.

Very happy with mine.  Nice engine as mentioned above, though not as sweet as the 1.4 twin-charger engine on my previous Golf.  Fuel consumption a little heavier than I expected:  average of 30 mpg over 19,000 km, best achieved figure was 37mpg.

Unfortunately this combination (1.8TSI, 4x4) is no longer offered in Australia, so hopefully the next iteration of the Yeti will be available when I need to replace mine in about 2 years.

I too am on my second 1.8 Tsi Yeti. Fuel consumption not great, around 30mpg ave, but is a great engine and IS still available. No worries with accessories as the F/L was only minor changes to the front and the rear tailgate. The only issue with this engine appears to be high oil consumption by one or two members on here but seem isolated cases.

My FL 1.8 tsi L&K is now averaging a genuine 30mpg.

(In comparison my first Yeti 170tdi averaged 38mpg ,and my last Greenline 48mpg.)

It's best was 36 mpg touring in Scotland.

Petrol around where I live is 6-7P per litre cheaper than Diesel.

It hasn't burnt any oil from new either.

1.8 TSI is a great motor but I would be very careful when buying a used one built before November 2011, as there were several serious design issues with piston rings and timing chain tensioner to name a few.
