remapping a vrs pd tdi 170

Featured Replies

Hi help I am considering getting my 08 Octavia vrs  2.0L PD TDi 170 the car is standard and has just done 70k can anyone recommend I live in Wiltshire near Bath so a local firm would be even better, but basically want something that isn't going to prove problematic down the line as I intend to keep the car long term. Are there any weak points that can be thrown up by remapping I presume the clutch and turbo would be the main issues, any feedback would be gratefully received thanks

Hi, I recently got my 07 Octy VRS PD170 remapped and DPF deleted at 85k. And am really please with the results. It's so much more responsive and pulls like a train. Plus the DPF delete has left me with stress free driving for the last 3 months.

I'm based in Bristol and I used Avon Tuning (http://avontuning.co.uk/) mainly as they're local (not many around these parts, for DPF delete anyway) and I've read some good reviews on various car forums (not heard much about them on here yet though). They did the DPF delete and stage 1 map for £450 and it only took a few hours. They open the DPF remove the filter elements and replace it so no MOT issues (I've actually had my MOT since this was done). Also, I've seen a decent return on fuel too. Approx. 50-60 miles more out of a tank.

One thing the remap did highlight was that my clutch was on the tired side, which resulted in slip every now and again seemingly at random times. But this can vary from car to car. I've since had the clutch replaced (ouch) and have had no slip problems since.

Gareth the guy at Avon Tuning is very helpful too and the work has a lifetime guarantee.

Hope this helps.
