Towbar for VRS estate

Featured Replies

Hi,

Ordered a VRS estate in early April and just got a build week36. This works perfectly as my Co'car goes back on 1st October and i'm going back to cash for car on this one.

Reason for the post is I need a towbar. Just wonderd what other folk have done. I didn't tick the towbar prep box as was thinking it would be an aftermarket job anyway but could regret that ??

Thanks for any replies.

Picking mine up Monday and been quoted £330 fixed or £520 removable. Apparently due to the shape of the rear bumper on the Vrs only a limited number of companies make a suitable unit. If no one else gets back mean time I ll get you the name on Monday. Hoping I can get mine fitted this week !

I can recommend www.pfjones.co.uk for bars and wiring. I used them for my Mk2. Good price and quick delivery. Can also arrange fitting but I did mine myself and got it coded by a Briskodian with VCDS.

Skoda's own towbars and wiring are made by Westfalia and prices reasonable compared to others, but their labour may be higher. I'm getting my Mk3 done by the dealer at Skoda's expense as compensation for the wait!

Incidentally, Skoda are now advising dealers not to spec towbar prep on VRS orders for some reason. Skoda are also now able to supply all wiring options including caravan split charge.

Hi, I've got an elegance estate, paid for towbar prep and dealer charged £430 to fit a Westfalia removable, but they checked first to see if I had towbar prep before quoting, so it would have been a different price without the prep. They had to cut my bumper, but that is invisible unless laying on the ground..
