Fabia Vrs- Test Drive Mag review

Featured Replies

Just read latets copy of Test Drive mag, whilst waiting for a flight. My car was in a "warm hatch" group test against the:

Pug 206 Gti 138

Seat Ibiza FR 1.8T

Citroen C2

VW Lupo Gti

Mits Colt CZT

Fiesta 1.6 zetec-s

Mini Cooper

It came 3rd behind the Fiesta and the Mini. Dunno why the Ford came above it purely on the chassis as the article says the Fiesta underwhelms in almost every area. As for the Mini, well those who watched Top Gear will know the story there. The article is below.

" One of the stars of the test, the Fabia won near-universal respect for its unlikely combination of genuinely hot-hatch dynamics and diesel-sipping sensibleness. The statistics tell the story perfectly. Although the Ibiza FR will get to 60mph from rest 1.3 seconds quicker than the vRS, it gets obliterated by the Skoda on in-gear times, thanks to the turbodiesel engines 228lb ft of torque. In the real world, the Ibiza has difficulty keeping up, let alone getting past....

It's definitely the everyday choice from this pack, thanks to good cabin refinement, a comfy seating position, and healthy equipment levels. If you're looking to cover serious mileage then come here first. At

Same story every time - it gets the best write up but never wins. If it had a Seat/VW badge how would it have fared I wonder.

We had a Mini Cooper at work as a pool car and although it handled quite well, it was absolutely dull to drive.

quit complaining, judging by the first post the Fabia actually beat both the VW Lupo and the SEAT Ibiza...

youve got to remember the basic fabia, lupo and to an extent Ibiza are quite old now.

PS i dont think if it had a VW or Seat badge it would have won, i think its fairly obvious

You get my message though.

yeah i do mate :)

but being honest most car mags etc have come round to the skoda badge so i dont think they discriminate against them

The mk4 ibiza is newer than the fabia though ;)
