Changing wishbones

Featured Replies

Hi,

How do I manage to get out the frontmost bolt on the wishbone on the left side. It stops in the gearbox.

Do I need to losen the engine/gearbox mounts, and raise the engine? Or is it some other clever way to get it out?

Thanks :-)

I have this problem also, and have decided I can only do the rear console bushes, myself.

I'm not sure if this is because :-

                                               A - DSG gearbox

                                               B - Diesel engine

or C - Estate (probably not this / don't know if yours is).

I'm sure someone will answer your question more directly though (hopefully) as I have been trying to find this out.

See my post further down page one, re wishbone removal.

I think your on the right lines with gearbox mounts tho.

Good luck.

Hi,

After what I have read on other forums, it looks like this is because of the DSG gearbox. I have also discovered that you most likely have to lower a part of the subframe/or the subframe called "Assembly Carrier" in "service position" (lower it about 11 cm). After a quick look in ElsaWin, it looks like a pretty easy job. I will do this in a week or so, and update this thread.

Hi,

I did manage to resolve this. To get the bolt out, I had to lower the subframe a few centimeters.
