Odd clutch issue

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue or can shed any light on the cause??

I own a Skoda VRS Petrol 2008 with 40,000 miles on the clock.

About a year or so ago when I (ahem....) stalled, the clutch pedal remained in a half depressed state. I could drive the car / change gear etc quite normally. I quickly realised that I could pull the clutch pedal back to the normal position with my foot and normal service resumed. I have experienced no further issues since then.

However, my wife was driving yesterday and she experienced the same thing. The clutch was stuck half way down but could change gears & drive normally. She also mentioned an odd smell (slightly noxious). She also pulled the peadl back up to a normal position and carried on as normal.

Have been driving today and no issue that I could see.

Any ideas what may be causing such an itermittent problem considering it has been a year+ between episodes?
