Possible getting a Rapid and PXing my Fabia

Featured Replies

Im off to see a Rapid tomorrow froma dealer near where I live.  They are offering £3k minimum PX against the entry level car.  Given that I have an 03 plate Fabia with 155k on the clock this seems like a good deal and one that will take up most of the deposit needed to get a low monthy price (assuming that there are no surprises).

All in all not too bad as I only bought the Fabia as a stop gap car and it might well have gained me a few thousand as a PX.  I will wait to see if this is true.

Anyway, I was wondering what all of you thought about the Rapid.  I think the deal is with the 1.2 MPI S version, what would you guys recommend as I am on a budget.

Thanks for any help and advice in advance

Have you queried what the terms and conditions are which apply to this offer?

I asked the sales guy on the phone if the £3k was still applicable for my Fabia, which probably has a trade in value much closer to 3-400 but he said that it was and that by trading in it would count towards the deposit (thereby making it well affordable).

Ill see what they say tomorrow though, Im a wee bit of a scpetic, when something sees too good to be true and all that!!!

The MPI version is not fast, but I see you are coming from an SDI Fabia so it will probably feel quite quick compared to that!

There is quite a lot of margin in the Rapid, so this £3k part ex deal if just a different way of giving you a good discount, and it seems to work for you because you have an older car with high mileage. Try and drive a Rapid with this engine, or a Fabia 1.2 petrol non-turbo to see if you like it.

Hi - to be perfectly honest, for me it's a no brainer!

A New Rapid 1.2TSI Sport is currently on sale at £3,000 off list price - about £13,250.   I would go for a PCP Deal using the £3000 minimum they give you for your Fabia as the deposit seening as Skoda are offering 0%!   Over a 42 month period with three years free servicing, you will end up with a real beauty!  I am absolutely bowled over by mine!   With a brand new car, if anything goes wrong with her (except things that wear out), the warranty takes care of it.

Everything nowadays is a monthly bill - your rent/mortgage, gas,. electric, phone, internet, TV.   Why not make your motoring costs monthly too?

Thats what I was thinking, the cars that are down to about 11-12k, then with £3k PX from what is essentially a £300 carmakes payments monthly in the £120 range.  I cant see anywhere in the T&C that this weouldnt be the case but I will look through some options with the guys when I visit tomorrow.

That price is already discounted, the 3k PX is off list price, means putting 1k down and it being 130/month, hmmm

This seems like a great deal! Car is worth maybe £500 second hand so £3000 would be great. Going to enquire as to whether the 1.2 TSI SE Connect is available with it - £12990 new and £3000 covers the deposit for the finance...

Apparently special editions don't come under the 3k offer and the se connect is at an already discounted price - the 3k trade in offer is against list price

Still a great deal IMO. Work out how much u will save in interest over 3 year too. Quite a lot compare to average 7% offered...

The thing I don't understand though is at the end you either pay say, £5000 or you hand the car back, or your part exchange. Well part exchange value is surely only going to be about £5k in 3 years on a car that is currently £13k, or you hand it back and you've spent a lot of money getting use of a car for 3 years, or you pay off £5000 which I wouldn't have in 3 years... So essentially in 3 years I either sign up for a new deal or end up with nothing to show for it...

Surely hire purchase is better? But there doesn't seem to be any interest rates available for that...

Sounds like a standard PCP deal to me... If that deal is 0% finance over three years then it's actually not such a bad deal, you could always take out a £5k personal loan (whatever the interest rates may be at the time) to pay the final payment on the car... Or, and I know this could be a stretch on finances, put £140 a month in to a small cash ISA, after 3 years you've got £5k in the bank.

the car could be worth £7500 so if you bought the car at the end you are getting a £7500 for £5000   (14 month old rapid 1.2 SE is £11000 on the forecourt)

Did they note used to do a guaranteed trade in price?

Skoda Rapid Sport List Price £15,630 OTR

Lookers List Price £13,243 OTR   http://www.lookers.co.uk/skoda/offers/new-car-offers/skoda-rapid/

Okay, not quite £3000 off (but £2,400) - seems a good deal to me!

I suggest you print off Lookers offer and show it to your dealer if they are sticking to their guns on price.   You can always talk to Lookers on the phone and order your car through them.   Most dealers nowadays can offer part exchange remotely as long as you're honest about the condition and email them photographs of any damaged bits of your car.

You can obtain a Rapid sport for less than £12k OTR via an online broker, then something like 4.1%APR personal loan say over 4 years on £11k, that's just less than £250 per month.

Do the maths, see what you can afford, the online broker has the 1.2 MPI @ £9,800 ish OTR.

I'm not an expert but an easy trawl through Rapid prices/loans brought up these results.

Just ordered a new rapid sport using the 3k PX deal. At 8k miles a year I'm only 150 bucks which I'm happy with. Also means I don't have to listen to the rattles and (worryingly) the beep from myfabia SDI.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've just part exed my Fabia and pick up a new Rapid SE Connect on Thursday. Got an excellent trade in price for the Fabia.

Picked it up today. I love it!

One thing I kind of wish I had on my sport was the sat nav more for the integration of audio than actual sat nav but I suppose I could always retrofit

Yes I'm thinking the same as my Citigo Sport has the PID which works great on Bluetooth with my phone.
