Twindoor, large boot open manually?

Featured Replies

Hello people!

I'm having trouble with twindoor on my Superb.

Is there any way to open large boot (hatch) by hand for example when electrical issues exist?

I've done a bit of search here on forum and went through owners manual but with no luck (owners manual only points at emergency opening of the small boot).

Thanks in advance.

I don't believe there is as it's all electrical, what problems are you having?

Hi.

I have a similar problem with my 2009 Superb 2.

I cannot open the boot at all - either in hatch or saloon mode.

When I press the large (hatch) boot release button (on the right), the lights flash, and I hear a motor move.  However, the boot release button on the remote and the left button on the tailgate do nothing.  Then, when I lock that vehicle again, I hear the motor move.

I am also unable to open the boot in "saloon" mode (tried key and left button on tailgate).

10 months ago the vehicle went into the main dealers, and had the wiring loom replaced, recently it has been back because the remotes needed "reprogramming".  I am a bit reluctant to go back again and incur some more costs.

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

THANKS!

I've found this topic. It explains how to open hatch manually but I don't understand completely and can't open some of the pictures.

Hi,

In the absence of any other answers...

Here are some photos of the saloon boot lid lock after the inner lining has been removed. It shows there is an (unused) facility for a bowden cable to operate the lock. If the white plastic tang is pulled towards the right (in the photo) the boot lock opens.

I know this as I have just taken my car to pieces to get this picture, and tried it on my car.

Your problem is how to get the lining off with the boot in the closed position. The lower clips are probably not visible with the boot shut, but removing all the clips you can see (they are all around the edge), and the pull-handle (single Torx T-25 screw) may allow you enough access to get to it.

Or, a carefully positioned hole cut in the lining above the lock may allow enough space to get to the white plastic bit. (This hole could be cleaned up afterwards and a rubber grommet fitted?)

This fault is almost certainly one of the wires breaking in the saloon/hatch hinge on the l/h side.

Once you have opened the saloon boot lid, then the link mentioned by laik can be used to open the hatch lid, although that part may be working properly, the fault may just be this lock having no power to its release solenoid.

There are three motors and one solenoid(motor?) in the boot release mechanism as I understand it:-

Two motors (one each side of the hatch opening - half way up) lock/unlock the lid into Hatch/boot mode.

One motor pulls the locking tang down, so the boot lid is tightly shut when it is closed (sits under the stainless steel flap). (FWIW. This isn't fitted to the facelift model.)

The solenoid (only this part is in the boot/hatch itself, apart from the two release buttons, of course) releases the lid from the locking tang.

Happy to be informed otherwise.

Note: I haven't read what the manual says yet......

HTH.

Hi!

This is my firs post on briskoda , tough i've been watching it a lot...

I bougt a wile ago a superb 3t MY. 2010 with no motors on either sides. So i purchased the 2 motors but with them instaled the boot's central locking doesed work at all. If I uninstall them the boot opens hach style. I've cheked the wiering but all seems fine, just a cuple of wires needed some insulator tape...

The simtomps are very alike with the ones described above, like no blinking when closing the car, it opens hach style from the sedan buton...

No clue wher to check next...

Regards, Adrian

Spoted the problem... The boot only closes half way... The "hook" on the tailgate only locks in the first position... when operated manualy all seems fine: stop light flashes, the 2 servomotors do their thing, the hazzards flashes on locking...

investigation ongoing :)

Catches and switches can have issues. This usually derives from the boot being slammed down rather than closed gently and letting the motors pull it down.

I have have a similar issue that I have now resolved. The twindoor was not fully closing and it appeared the soft close part was not doing its job. I took the trim panel off and found one the multiplug connectors was not in place. Snapping it back in resolved all the issues for me. It had not been working correctly for a while and possibly since I removed the blue protector film from the chrome boot lip cover. I am guessing that may have snagged on the connector. I can now hear the two sets of motors when I shut it from the hatchback position and one motor from the salon position which had not been happening for a while. Prior to looking at that I had had the tailgate wiring loom out to inspect for damage but it appeared intact on mine.

Thanks for the steer on where to look. I feared it was going to be expensive to resolve.

i have skoda superb 2008 model , my twin door is not open now with my car key . can someone tell me what can be wrong .thanks

I have been dealing with the faulty wiring issue in my 2012 mk2 twin door, which coincided with a flat tyre and I couldn't open the boot to access the spare/wheel lock. The nice man from the AA managed to find a way. When you remove the trim from the saloon boot lid, there is a white lever which is designed to have a cable release attached. You can either attach a cable and route to a handle in the lid, or cut a slot in the trim so you can use your key as per the latest manuals to move the lever. The image is upside down as it was taken with the boot open.
