DIY bodywork repair?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I couldn't find much about this on here, but my fabia has some damage on the rear nearside arch from where I scraped a wall not long after passing my test. It's been bugging me for months, and I'd rather not pay a body shop to sort it for me as I'm sure it'll cost a small fortune. Does anyone on here have experience in this sort of thing? I've read a couple of guides online, and most are pretty vague, some say that spraying it yourself will get a crap finish and it's best to do the prep work (I'm aware that it will need filling etc.) and then take it to a body shop to be painted. What do you guys think, and do you have any hints/tips/guides?

The damage is across a metal panel and the plastic bumper, is the process different for the two parts?

My bumpers are a little scuffed in places too and I'd like to fix them up a little too, any tips?

I've attached a photo of the damage

thanks in advance!
