2nd Year Service

Featured Replies

Monte Carlo going for her 2nd year service next week. Dealership has advised air con needs serviced also ....is this a warranty requirement?

Cheers

Ask the Person telling you that to show you where they see that on the Service List for your car that they print out by your Registration Number.

Is this the Service Advisor/Receptionist/Manager saying this?

Do they mean 'Replace Pollen Filter' at Major Service, 2 years /20,000 miles?

That is Servicing the car, cleaning the A/C, (but not Regassing or the likes.)

Included in the price of a Major Service.  or in the Service Plan.

(replacement filter around about £17 plus VAT)

Service adviser claiming Skoda recommend 24months to discharge air con and refill!

It will be dead easy for them  to show you where that advise is given then.   So just ask to see it.

On the Computer or in a Service Guideline Manual.

?

How much is this Service Adviser saying they would like you to pay them to have this done on your 2 year old car?

You are advised to have your Brake Fluid changed at 3 years,

then every 2 years.

This time your Rear Wheels should be coming off, brake drums removed & cleaned out,

visual Inspection, & any adjustment done.

Best check that is correctly done by them.

& any Skoda Softwear Update or Enhancement.

It is a Major Inspection Service, Body Check, full Health Check on the Vehicle.

You should receive a full report, and advice on any actions required.

They would be better concentrating on Service Items you are paying for as per Schedule & Guidelines rather than trying to  Make Extra Profits.

I had the two year service just before the car went (free servicing in any case)

IIRC they replaced the pollen filter,no mention of air con work.

I've never heard of routine a/c servicing anyway, although you need to deodorise the system if it's become smelly.

One of the diy cans will do this for £10 or less.

The air con service is only a recommendation and commonly used as a main dealership up selling tool. It would not inval8date any warranty repairs to the air con system etc. The pollen is every 2 yrs or 20k as previously mentioned.

Thanks

Dave

But why?  Unless there is a problem with it emptying and refilling is just wasteful.
