LED DRLs for Mk2 FL

Featured Replies

No, this is not another thread about LED replacements for the 21W bulbs.  :)

I was browsing eBay today and found these. Has anyone seen them in real life?

I'm not really a fan of these rows of visible LEDs, it looks a bit tacky and aftermarket to me... even on cars that came with it as standard such as the mid 00's Audi A6. But it's still a step up from stone-age incandescent bulbs. My ideal LED arrangement would be a cluster of four bright LEDs where the bulb sits today. Something like you get on a DRL-equipped Volvo V50 DRIVe.

But I'm still interested. Just trying to find out of someone on here has tried them before.

As you have a Mk2 FL couldn't you just fit the DRL/foglight assembly from the vRS?

I think not, since bumper is different and will not fit, and, those LEDs are not cheap, and bumper, then fog lights... :(

I realised as I walked away from my computer that the vRS front was different to that on your car.  Sorry about that.

I'm afraid your best option is the one you've already dismissed in the opening post...

Replace the standard 21W incandescent bulb with a high quality CREE CANBUS-friendly LED bulb.

I have looked at the ones above but like others if at half the price i could take the plunge.

Not sure if the LEDs give out good output???

Pics aren't convincing.

I have the cree 5w single, although you can get cree that also light to the side, this way it will light all of the interior.
