Autobrite Repel smearing

Featured Replies

Hello

Had some of the autobrite repel kit left today and decided to use it on my new car Did the usual clean then followed the instructions. Problem is the stuff has smeared badly on my windows. No matter what I try now I can't get rid of the smearing. Did I apply it when it was to hot and the sun was out? How can I resolve the smearing I now have. Tried autoglm fast glass over the top but it hasn't helped at all. Don't fancy having to clay it off since I only have one piece left and think it's a waste. Looks a mess at the moment.

Appears to me that you may have applied when the glass is too hot

Polish it off and start again

You MUST have totally clean glass...A wipe with IPA is essential or it wont bond

Great. Will try it tomorrow. Not got much repel left. Might just use it on my windscreen now.

Do I just use it neat?

Yes...Its only glass ....so neat is fine .......but so is 50:50

Thanks Chris. If I run out of the crystal glass cleaner I assume I can use fast glass instead. Think they are similar things.

Will I need to use the glass cleaner before the repel if I have used isopropyl?

That worked a treat Chris. All looks good now. Next time will but some geotechnic g5 to try.

Glad its sorted

I use G5 and find it really good to apply and buff off and no juddering of the wipers

Needs reapplying every couple of months

I previously tried CarPro FlyBy Sealer...absolutely dreadful/useless...Never again!!
